Hey, you can build guitars with no power tools if you like.

A good table saw will see a lot of use for a great variety of jobs.

I personally have spent too much time rebuilding old machines (and seen others do this). The quality may be there, but lots of stuff wears out. By the time you are done you have invested tons of time and money doing the whole overhaul.

Get a new 10" Grizzly is my advice. Not the contractors or benchtop saw; get a 1023 or 0690. I got the 0690 a year ago and have been very glad I did. It's good enough to be your last saw, which is my standard for machines.

Do be aware that the table saw has a hunger for fingers. It also likes to bind when ripping and then throw a piece of wood at you at high speed. Set it up well. Work safe.
