Jim, you can't insult a wood troll!

Yeah Filippo, I know. I've tried appealing to his conscience before... but Snig and his conscience get along famously!
Seriously, that's a nice score Chris. Love the black line figure. Reminds me of the Madagascar we were seeing a few years ago.

Waddy,

Is that also 4 pieces for the back ?

I have a nice piece of Pao as well - and plan on a 3 piece back. Just go tot get through my first couple guitars and then I will start resawing it and some English walnut for 3 and 4.

Just an update to this thread. I put this board through the saw today and have:

4 fingerboards
1 bridge blank (could have had more but had to work around a couple small internal defects)
4 headplates

...and 1 really COOL OM set! This is straight off the saw - you should see it when it's wet!

Awesome! Definitely the right decision on how to cut it. And those back offcuts ought to make some more good headplates.

Keep us posted when you decide to build 'er up :)

Snigs you could always use that Pao Ferro as a downpayment on a Real Man's Saw - the one Jim has in his profile pix. Then you could relegate the 19" Rikon to scroll saw work

Sometimes doing a slip match ,rather than a book match, on the two outside seams will make it less obvious that it is a four piece back. This is not always the case, but I usually try it to see how it looks.
