Just tried it. Same thing - corrupted small file is all I got. You should prolly contact Mr. Mottola and let him know. I may have the full .exe saved on another computer of mine. I'll have a look tonight and let you know.

What would be really great is if he would update it to include the extra curves/lines that he wrote about in his latest article in the GAL magazine, however I suspect he does not have the time for this (based on an email conversation I had with him about guitar shapes not too long ago).

Hello all,

Download problems can be really tough to debug but are almost always a configuration issue on the client side. If anyone has problems downloading "G" Thang, please email me and I will send you the installation executable via return email. I have looked at server logs from the host and asked a number of folks to download this and there appears to be nothing wrong on the host side. But please do let me know via email if you have problems - I want to be sure that everyone that wants to use this program can use it.

Dave wondered if it was possible to update "G" Thang to make use of the additional outline drawing features mentioned in my American Lutherie #103 article. Those features are in fact included in the latest release, 0.6. Also added to this release are facilities for drawing complete fingerboards, including fret placement, strings and dot markers. The software generates a proportionally spaced nut as part of the drawing. You'll find additional body outline initializations too, including all sizes of ukes and an OM.

Again, let me know of any download problems via email.

Hope everyone will be at the GAL convention this summer.

rm

thanks so much for your quick and concerned responses. i tried downloading g thang a number of ways and as you say, the problem was most likely on my end. i didnt mean to cause any trouble on your part, so i hope it wasnt too big of a hassle for you. i did eventually get it to download and install properly from the file you sent me via email. again, thanks for taking time to adress this with me. and a big thanks for making this program available to everyone.

if theres anyone interested in a simple straight forward, yet comprehensive way to design a guitar shape and you havent tried out g thang yet, i would highly recommend it. great program.

have a great day all.

Wow! Thanks RM!!!! You da man!!! bliss

It downloads just fine now - my PC did an automatic upgrade yesterday, so no doubt it was an IE8 problem.

I LOVE [:Y:] the new features, thanks!! I will be tinkering with the new version extensively this coming weekend.

Folks, if you haven't tried RM's Gthang tool yet, do yourself a favor and download it today.

RM - you should add a "donations" box on your website - I for one would like to see you get compensated for your time and efforts on this great tool....

Cheers,
Dave F.

I downloaded a copy a few weeks ago, and have been using it. Very useful. I do a lot of drawing in CAD, but with the splines I have, it turned out that this program creates a fair outline more easily. Wonderful. Thanks!
