Hello friends
i want to build little cheap laminated back and sides guitars
because in india people are not much aware of high end classical guitars.
so planning to start to manufacture them with solid tops.
i m in search of other cheap guitar parts but first thing that came in my mind was binding.
pls let me know some cheap options for bindings such as plastic, abs or fibre, celluloid
i can be able to get this cheap because there are lot of small companies around my locality
so that it will be easy for me to produce for me .
also pls mail me some designs so that i will have some unique bindings.
waiting for ur reply

If you are in India, the cheapest thing to use for bindings would be local woods, such as EI rosewood and ebony ... I am sure there are others available to you that we have never heard of as well ..

Beautiful wood should be totally available to you and will look the best in my opinion. If you don't mind bending them that is. It doesn't take much wood to bind a guitar!

The cost of a guitar is more than just raw materials... perhaps in India labor is cheap but wood bindings are generally more expensive due to the amount of work and risks involved.

Plastics can be cheap, all you need is ABS or whatever type of plastic in the right size. Plastic strip isn't exactly hard to get, I am sure you can get some wholesaler to sell you a large amount of them for a very low price. Then you can use wood for the higher end ones.

It depends if you just want to make a massive number of cheap guitars, or make a low number of very high quality guitars.
