Figured I would post a couple of things I got done this weekend that I am exited about...

About 2 years ago, in DC, I got two pieces of ziricote for a great price (maybe $40 for both). From those pieces, I resawed enough for this set, and a 'twin' that is a little behind this stage of construction. Ziricote for me has been nothing but a pain to work with, it smells like dirt and cracks with a 5% humidity change, but it sure is beautiful and looks great offset with lighter woods.

My daughter is now 17 months, and will sit on my bench and work with me for about 15-20 minutes before she gets bored and starts saying 'bye, day' (which is a shortened version of "bye have a nice day' that she has associated with being done with something.

Anyway, enjoy!
Stephen

Man Filipo,

Tell me about it. I was not paying attention yesterday and she colored (in pencil) all over the carp top on that guitar. It was not a major problem with the exception of all the little indents of where each line started. But she just ooked so dang cute doing it - and the top was a little thick anyway :)

I love it!

I've never seen scallops that extreme! Is the top pretty stiff?

James,

This is the way it has been with the last 3 carpathian tops I have done...It is almost as if I didn't need more than point masses - not really braces. The batch of tops is just so stiff, and I left this particulat one a little thicker (braced at 0.123) to see if I could 'drive' it a little more with strumming pick style without having it sound too thin...

I will let you know how it turns out.

Stephen
