I find myself 4 coats short of McFaddens for a guitar and would like to use Mohawk. Anyone have any problems?

Haans, this just happened to me about a month ago. I put 3 coats of Behlens over Mcfaddens. So far no problems, rubbed out and buffed just fine.

Haans, the common wisdom is that Behlens/Mohawk musical instrument lacquer (that is the one you are talking about, yes?) is a bit softer than McFaddens. So it should not be a problem, although of course switching brands in the middle is to be avoided if possible.

If you can get some seagrave(sold by LMI) it's the same formula as mc fadden.

Thanks guys! Howard, I don't like doing it but it's for my mini-bimbo, so it ain't goin' out the door.
Mark, I'm not much into spending $63./gal when I just ordered 2 gal Mohawk for $68 incl shipping...

It will work fine Haans. I put Mohawk over Mcfaddens a couple years during one of McFaddens first financial hiccups.

Thanks Woody!
I figured it would work as long as I didn't let the finish dry for weeks before spraying the Mohawk. Not so keen on Seagrave's since the price went through the roof.
