The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

The wattage should be fine. They are about 2watts per square inch. My bending blanket is 2.5w/sq.in. and it works fine. I'm wondering about the voltage. I guess you could put 110 volts into it rather than 48volts.

The ad is kind of ambiguous.It says it has two separate circuits of 79 ohms each.If you put 48 volts across each of those resistances you get about 4 watts per sq. in.

2 1/2 watts is low for a heavy thermal load . This blanket if you turn 120 V to it you will fry it like a fish fillet . Also the blanket isn't rated to 300 degrees I don't think.
