When I decided to build a shop to work on and build guitars, I never fully appreciated all the air stuff. In the last year now I have a:

1 air conditioner cooler (for summer and winter in Houston area)
2 air dehumidifier (for summer and winter in Houston area)
3 air humidifier (for winter)
4 air heater (for winter)
5 air filter (dust collector for health and house keeping)
6 air quality meter (its eye opening to know what the health quality really is)

Should 7 face mask air filter, 8 room air filter, 9 HEPA vacuum cleaner and 10 air compressor be on the list?

What else have I left off?

Crazy.

Ed

Yes to 7 and 10.

As for others, you could get air sanders and die grinders!

Or ditch it all and build air guitars.....something I'm considering as I just broke another side for no apparent reason.

That sucks, I hope you have another matching pair of sides! Was is sapele?
Ed, you forgot a more intimate air issue: clean your nasal passages with kosher salt water at the end of the day, everyday.

Now that you've got all that together, it's time to start on a VACUUM air system! ;)

You're a mind reader. But oh, it's not just limited to Sapele. I've been breaking sides like I was born for it lately. Just when you think you have something under control.......

I'm not typically a big user of emoticons but if the wall fits, wear it. [headinwall]

End of hijack.

Laurent - I haven't heard that before...is the purpose to get rid of the wood dust?

Indeed. Do it religiously, and you'll be surprised. And relieved.

I learned that when I worked in grain elevators. I normally use tap water and have less colds now that I do it every day whether I am in the shop or not.
It sound a bit gross but it works.

I'm partial to the Neil Med Turkey Baster bottle for my sinus rinse. Much easier to use than a Neti Pot.

If you have a Costco, this same package is only about 15.99 or something like that.

I'll second Hanns on the downdraft sanding table. It doubles as a power vent for the CA gluing and pore filling also.

We had a saying in the Army when I used to saved lifes: "Air goes in and out, Chest goes up and down, Blood goes round and round, Oxygen is good."

I would add a Cleanstream HEPA filter to a shopvac to your list if you haven't already. Got mine at Lowe's for my Fein. They make a big difference in air quality and don't reduce the vac's function.

Ed, I live just down the road from you in Beaumont, and I have never had to humidify, in any season. All I would have to do to go from a hard-won 50% is open the door for a moment, then I'd be back to 75%.
I run my de-humidifier, a Solusa, 24-7 when I have a project going.
