I bumped into this on the Make Magazine site:
http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2010/0 ... ndsaw.html
Really ingenious home made band saw. Then I went to his home web site:
http://woodgears.ca/index.html
Take a look at his wooden machines page. We ought to convince this guy to become a luthier. He would build more jigs than Kevin Ryan. Probably make a couple of jigs that make jigs.

A while back a fella I taught called me up and comlained that he was having problems with his home made bandsaw. "Every time the wood hits the blade, it wants to jump up from the table." Of course the problems was solved when I suggested he turn the motor around. I fear for that man's fingers.

Here's my version of a home made bandsaw. Built using trailer wheels, spindles and bearings. Very heavy duty, 21 inch wide cut capability and 16 inch high cutting capability. I use it mainly for cutting billets from logs and resawing. Still need a better table and dust collection...makes alot of dust!

Thanks for looking, Chuck
