Today I removed the shellac coating and thickness the back and side plates on a Guatamalan RW set. This one will be a Lutz-topped 000, and I’m keepin’ this one for myself.

Tried that...never works. Did four guitars for myself last year...one is left, and that's because it's a Size 5 that I've overpriced (BTW, tuned E-E, it still plays and sounds great). Started two more recently for personal use (another slope shoulder jumbo and a grand aud)...I think the jumbo will be sold before I get the side tapes in.

I'm beginning to think that the best way to sell a guitar is to decide to build it for my own use.

Sorry to hear it, Todd. Not to rub it in, but I'm pretty sure I won't have that problem, at least not for a very long time. duh laughing6-hehe

Just spent a full day at my friend Jack's shop spraying sunbursts with my luthier friend and mentor James Condino. I was pretty much along for the ride, though I did shoot my first two bursts on an old ukelele I'm restoring and top only on a cocobolo and red spruce 000 that had an unfortunate run in with the router -- blew out a big chunk of the top while routing the dovetail pocket. I think I turned lemons into lemonade, and am very excited about this instrument.

The real star of the day was James and his hand-carved upright bass, of which he Brock-bursted the back and sides. Absolutely stunning!

Thanks guys! But you're just trying to get me posting here....?? Glad you like the shotglass Todd, it was a lot of fun to make. I ended up doing waaay to many shots of tequila sunday night! Actually it turned into a really fun night, me and my friend Steve won $150 in scratch off lottery tickets (not to mention the Caps winning in OT...) good evening all around. I did manage to get my body blocks in #2 and I'm happy to report our first paying customer at the repair shop I'm opening....albeit off the books til zoning signs off on us. I'll have more info about the shop soon, we're not quite ready to be broadcasting our services, not that anyone here would need them. However, we will be selling guitars on consignment and if anyone is interested in getting more info about that, feel free to PM me.
Chris, good to see you last week and congrats!
Filippo, man....that thing is sick.
