BILLY, It's a real compliment to post something that brings YOU out of the woodwork!! Hope you're doing well my friend. Ron

Ah! Thanks Ron ...the woodwork! I didn't have a clue where I was! I'll look there next time! laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe

Again! Real nice work Ron! Beliebe it or don't.... I was actually looking into building one of those infernal contraptions! There's something about the look of a well built banjo that's intriguing. Too bad they sound the way they do! wow7-eyes laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe laughing6-hehe

.... Sorry had to say it! I even have a couple of new banjo jokes that I heard at a Beppe Gambetta concert...but ....I'll demure!! Beppe likes banjos too!

Again beautiful work! How does it play?

Thanks Billy, if YOU build a banjo I sure want to know about it. This one sounds very good. I'm still tweaking the set up but I'm very pleased with it.

Dave R. Thanks a lot. I have not heard from Bruce in ages. Probably a year ago when I bought a K&K pickup from him.

Bruce, if you're listening in, we miss your presence.

Ron

Ron, please elaborate on veneering the resonator. I'm confused. You say you got two pieces of veneer, but I can't see a seam. Did you use one piece for the resonator back? It appears so. Please explain in more detail.
Congrats on a beautiful instrument. Who wouldn't love this banjo?

Yes, the back is one piece. I cut the other piece into strips to go around the edge. Those seams are not very prominent due to the figure of the wood.

Great work Ron! I couldn't imagine stringing up one you just built for the first time and cranking out a few rolls. That is a beautiful veneer job and thanks for the heat activated glue info. Retire the Mastertone! You must very be pleased with what you made. I had a Mastertone for a couple of months. A guy I knew offered me his Mastertone if I would lend him $1000. He paid me back on the last day of the deal. Oh well. It was great to play it for a couple of months. I still own a 5 string. It's no Gibson though. I too would like to build one but I think a folk style. I've always wanted to learn clawhammer just because it wants to make me get up and dance. Nice to know we have a resident expert here. :)

Really nice OM BTW.

All The Best,
Danny
