I've seen pure white bridges on old parlor guitars. Mostly pyrimid bridges. Is that material ivory?

Yeah I am pretty sure that is ivory. I wonder if anyone has ever made bridges with holly.

Ya, Me has. Only they were violin style for carved tops.

Look pretty, but IMHO the maple, boxwood, ebony, snake wood and Black African seem to work better.

Blessings

Yea, they are ivory. I've made a pyramid bridge out of holly, but haven't used it. It weighed 15 grams compared to a 25 gram ebony pyramid.

Plastic seems to work.

This is pretty cool.

I remember seeing it a while back when I was looking for info on how to make a pyramid. I'm guessing you might have a hard time border crossing with it.

I wonder what Corian would weigh in at and how well it would glue to a top?

The old Martin bridges are elephant ivory. For crossing borders mammoth ivory can be a solution, although some say they crack more easily. Contact David Warther for 100% legal stuff and good counsel.

Thanks for the info Guys! I thought they were ivory but wasn't sure. They sure give a different look to a guitar. I'd like to see one with an ivory fretboard as well.

A white wood bridge will get grey and dirty in no time, I would not recomend it. Polished ivory remains off-white and clean.

I'm echoing Kevin. Persimmon. Very white, very dense.

Native Olive. I have some from OWW that is very light, close to a tan maple shade. I also have some that is dark.

You can always put some type of finish on it. Many older Gibson bridges were lacquered.
