I recently bought a large (80") belt sander, but the belts that came with it have a nasty hump at the splice, knocking the work away from the belt as the splice moves by it. My smaller 4' belt sander does not do this, but I thought I would ask if anyone knows of a good brand belt with a smother splice for larger sanders. I have tensioned the belt according to the instructions.

thanks,
Damon

I've been very impressed with belts from these guys: http://customsandingbelts.com/

I ordered a sample for my sponge sander and ended up ordering a whole box (which will take me a very long time to empty!)

The most recent belts I bought for my smaller 4x24" unit are aweful. THey have a huge bump everytime the seam comes around. Learned my lesson about discount belts.
