Hey Joe, I do have one piece of advice for you.
I never put any inlay on the headstock,
until a friend said I should put an A on it, because my name is Alan.
So I started doing that.
I think a J would look nice on your next build.
By the way, I'm a sucker for figured maple appointments!

Hey Terence I see I missed your question, I use a mortise and tenon bolt-on neck attachment and I'm using the Simpson jig for routing the pocket and the tenon on the neck.

Thanks again guys for checking it out,
Joe

Lovely Joe! I'm more for nothing on the P/H veneer unless you do some floral for a fancy one. Let the wood speak for itself, and let the guitar speak for you.
So, after a few days, how's it sound?
If I ever did build a dread (shudder) this would be the one. Course I'd be tempted to "squeeze the waist" just a bit...

Joe,
That is absolutely beautiful. I've built 2, 14 fret slope shoulder dreads and a 12 fret three piece back was my next project but I was concerned about the slot head ( no experience) but your paddle head looks great, so maybe I'll go that way. I have used the wipe on poly over shellac, but never rubbed it in.

Not enough slopes being built. Good job.

woody

Thanks guys!
And it's just getting better the more I play it, nice and open.

I don't know Haan's, tightening the wast would make it more curveacious for sure, but this way gives me more guitar to hide behind!

Very nice guitar. Where do you get those tuners?

Those are the golden age tuners from stew-mac. Very much a vintage look and feel, including a bit of slop, unlike the grover sta-tites, oh well.

And here's a short video to get a youtube taste of it's sound.

Joe, what kind of spruce did you use for the top? It sounds great in the video. Also, is that Cuban mahogany?

Thanks guys!

The funny thing is that's a top I bought when I first got interested in building and I don't have any idea which spruce it is. I mark my stash a bit better these days. :D

And the mahogany was labeled as macasser mahogany the first time I got some from a supplier and then later I got some more of the same from him and he just called it indonesian mahogany. So, who knows, but it's pretty good stuff.
