Hang-in there Tim - sometimes things like Lutherie can be just what the docs didn't order but a great way to pass time as you get better. Best wishes to you.

I'll add you to my prayers. Lately I have been adding so many I wonder if the sun might come up before I am finished. But, it is worth it; prayers have aided me in times of trouble. "Like a Bridge Over Troubled Water" and, folks if you do not pray, well then, just think of Tim and others for a special moment or invoke good kharma in your usual manner. Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayers.

No, it is in no way lutherie related. At least I doubt if I got "pregnant" the first time.LOL
I am 42 and have been smoking since I was 11. HHMMMM, guess I really shouldn't be surprised. Doesn't make it any easier, just makes me think, "you dumb @$$"!

The worst part so far is the pain. IT IS UNBELIEVABLE! The tumor is the size of a golf ball and it has caused a severe inflammation in the kidney and it is swollen 1 1/2 times its normal size, so everytime I move it push's on the kidney causing unimaginable pain. I am walking a little with a cane but if not for the pain meds, even that would be impossible.

I am a gulf war vet so all my medical is covered through the VA. I will have to pay a copay but it should be manageable. Time off of work will be the financial drain I have to worry about, won't find out how long until I meet with the surgeon. Kidney cancer is pretty cut and dry, unlike others. There is no chemotherapy or radiation that is effective, so the horror stories of being sick for weeks on end is rare with this type of cancer. As long as it hasn't spread, you either cut out part of the kidney or the whole kidney. For the size and location of a tumor of my type, survival rate after 5 years is about 65%. The big worry is whether it has spread to the adrenal glands or lymph nodes. Guess we will have to wait and see.

dang tobacco..could have played a role. I quit cold turkey 3 years ago. At the rate I was smoking (2-2.5 packs a day), I had a chance in 7 to end up with lung cancer.
Since then I also try to convince everyone I know to quit. Silliest thing I ever did was to start smoking, best was to quit.

I do my prayers when I play guitar, I will certainly play some songs for your health. Don't underestimate the power of vegetable juice.
Stay positive,
Rob

Good thing God blesses us with two kidneys! Ur gonna be good. So when is surgery scheduled? We need to know this for focussed prayer time. And yes, in your case, give up the tobacco... Your body is not strong enough against it. Buy 20 cases of nicorette gum and stick with it.

This is Kim, Tim's wife. He asked me to update you guys. He is in a lot of pain and is pretty well doped up. My husband will be seeing the top kidney cancer surgeon at OU. They should get him in fairly quick. He has decided to do ablation. This is where they burn all around the tumor to cut off blood supply to the tumor. We are hoping this will take care of the cancer. They are going to watch him closely after the surgery. He opted to try this first versus removing the kidney. The doctor thinks the prognosis is good.

Will keep everyone updated as things proceed.

Thanks for all the prayers.

The Warren Family.
