I'm thinking of doing a nitro finish on the body of a parlor I'm building and a tung oil finish on the neck. I have a bound fret board and wondered how you handle the masking and the transition of finish to the unfinished fret board. Are you masking just the ebony fret board and oiling the neck and bound portion of the fret board? I can't seem to wrap my arms around how this is supposed to work. Your input is greatly appreciated.

I just mask off the top of the fb to about 1/16 th from the edge and spray. What gets on the fb surface is removed by taking off the mask ans radiusing the board.

Yep, finish up to the edge. Binding will have finish on the side and none on the top which can result in a visual difference. If the binding is a porus species you might consider a sealer along the top edge to prevent dirt from staining the edge.
