Setting up a Dobro for my Dad, What gauge stings is average/normal... I was thinking 13's for the most drive... Its the first dobro i ever set up thought... also what action is normal?

Manufacturers call them "Resophonic Guitar" strings.
They accomodate open G and C tunings.

Super high action is considered normal, as these instruments are traditionally played with a slide, although some people try to set them up like an acoustic with medium action with standard tuning.

lap steel?
dobro is pretty broad term.
resonator guitars come in a lot of different shapes and sizes.
lap type? 14 on the top.
bottleneck? 13 are nice.
kind of tricky setting up a reso.
might want to go to the reso forum.
