Hi folks,
I've been asked to build a pernambuco dread. Allied had a couple of sets for sale recently, but they sold quickly. I've talked to Todd Taggart, and he's not sure when, or if, they will have any more available in the near future. I've sent e-mails to the some of the other "usual suspects", still waiting for response on those. I see a set or two on eBay, but...

So, does anyone know who I should ask? Thanks in advance!

Arnt, if you can't find any in Norway (I've been searching here for ten years or so) then you'll be out of luck. Pernambuco is CITIES II listed so the movement of unfinished wood is banned across borders. So if you try to import any from outside Norway you risk it being impounded at the border. I do have some violin bow stock, and as that will always be the main use for pernambuco, it's where all of the available wood usually ends up.

This may be a case of telling the customer that what he/she wants is not possible unless they can supply the wood.

Colin

Oooops! I should have looked into that first, of course. duh

Oh well, plan B and C with this fellow is African blackwood and BRW respectively, so I'm sure it will be a pretty (and expensive!) guitar, regardless. Fortunately I already have those in stock.
