Howdy everyone, I am going to start a build based on the Gibson J200. So I was wondering what your opinion would be on using some nice Ribbon figured African mahogany for the back and sides, Sitka spruce top, Adirondack red spruce 5/16 bracing, mahogany kerfing, mahogany neck, rosewood bridge and fretboard.

Will be using this acoustic for classic country, so looking for good bass and kinda mellow.

Thanks in advance
Bill

Thanks, What do you think a jumbo out of mahogany will sound? Most all of the jumbo acoustics I have played in the past have been rosewood or maple.

Your design and construction details will have a bigger impact on the sound than the type of wood.

I did a straight up J200 copy with some crazy, flamey, ribbony, curly maple.
MMMMM MMMMMM MMMMM ....... hard to beat the traditional stuff!
