hi, I am about to build a ditson style guitar which is about the size of a martin 0 guitar. I hope this isn't a noob question but the plans don't have the neck on them. Would the neck be the same size as a dread neck or maybe a 000-12 fret neck? I don't know, sorry for the noob question again.

The proper neck would be a 12 fret to the body, wide nut (1 3/4"-1 7/8") with slotted head and short scale (24.9").

I have a rough drawing, with dimensions, of a Ditson Grand Concert that Martin Guitars sent to a friend a few years ago. It is in PDF form, and if you are interested, PM me your email, and I will send you a copy. Another friend in Mississippi has built several from this plan, and they boom for a small guitar.

Bob, would it be too much to ask for you to email me a copy of that PDF also? I understand though if it's something you aren't comfortable with sending to just anyone who asks.

Here is one of the few actual Martin built guitars.

A little mystery...

I now have both a PDF file, thank you Bob, and a hard copy tracing, thank you John, of this guitar. Both copies have the same origin, with a few little margin notes different, I assume by different people over time. I wonder who drew the original?

Would you Bob, and you John, tell where yours came from and the story that came with it?

David

The original tracing came from Bill Cumpiano, who received it via Martin.

I did a build on the "Other" luthier forum -- and the group used this tracing...

The story I have been told....
It came to William Cumpiano through Martin.
Then, through William to board members
Then, to me.

It is an amazing little guitar.. Unfortunately, not well known... Stuff like Cases gotta be custom ordered or made...

Thanks

John

Thanks guys.
I had visions of the drawing being done by John Deichmann.
