Hello,
I've been hanging around here for a while checking things out and figured it's probably time to say hello and post some pics. There is a lot of very useful information here!
I live up in Winnipeg, Canada. Same town as Alan Beardsell and Daryl Perry. Both unbelievable guitar makers working in totally different realms. I've been building for ten years now but have spent the majority of the last eight years on the road with my band The Duhks so my output has been pretty low. Going great guns these days though and loving it. Thanks for the enjoyable reading and I look forward to contributing where I can.

jordan, welcome. i'm also a winnipeger. just a hobbiest, though. i'm working on #10 and 11 right now. i was hoping to bump into you sometime.

Hey Jordan .. welcome .. maybe you could shed some light on the PU system you use that gets the awesome octave bottom end sound. I gave some luthier seminars on the first and second Cayamo cruises .. you folks were on the first, caught the one midnight show, and it was great.

Hey Tony, I remember meeting you briefly and was disappointed that I couldn't see your presentation. I think we needed to host bingo or something strange like that...
The setup I use on my guitar is an idea that developed over years of trying to cover for the lack of a bass player.
Basically it's this: LR baggs M1/element through an imix. Stereo output, sending the element direct to the board as the "guitar" channel and the M1 through an electroharmonix POG as the "bass" channel. I use Boss tuners as mute switches for each channel so I can turn one or the other off.

Hey Robbie, the ebony actually bent fine. I took it down to about .075 and there were no problems. .085 is what I usually bend sides at but it just felt too stiff at that thickness. Interesting how much it loosened up after the ten thou came off. cube rule... The biggest problem was keeping the ebony dust out of the satinwood bindings.

Hi Jordan,

yeah I remember that now .. bingo was actually in the same room as I was to be in and it ran long .. so I set up and did my thing right after you folks left ...

That setup seem s to work just fine for you then .. I thought it may have been some other kind of setup with a filter that only sent the bottom string(s) to a synth. At the Montrela gutiar show last year there was a swiss guy with a synth setup using 6 individual saddle PUs (like the Baggs setup on the Taylor Doyle Dykes model) and he can add octave synth to either teh E or A string or both, each controlable with a slider. Very cool, but you have ot use that 6 saddle pu combo, a bit of a nightmare to install, and then how do you adjust intonation ??? Hmm ... I think I like yours better !!!!
