I am wondering if they contacted Hesh before using this name! laughing6-hehe

Anyway, Gotoh has added a new tuner to their line. These are small, lightweight tuners which they call "Stealth" tuners. Here are some pics with some weights. I have compared them to a typical 510 series tuner.

The details:

* They are 1/3 the weight of 510's at 13 grams (vs 38 grams)
* They have an 18:1 gear ratio
* They are limited to 44 lbs of string tension (so look at your string charts, D'Addario mediums are fine but heavies are not)
* They come with 4 button options in 3 colours. (the bodies are ALWAYS black, the post and button colours are selectable)

These appear to be a quality tuner and also appear to be the smallest on the market today. They are not too cheap at about $105 per set. They certainly offer another option, especially for those looking for something different or something small.

Ya, I hit "submit" button before I had the pictures loaded, that button is right above the "add picture button". Besides I was trying to trip Waddy up...looks like it worked :D !

It's looking like about $105 per set, with breaks at 5 sets, 10 sets and 25 sets.

I downloaded the pdf for these and i don't know about these. i kinda find them ugly looking. They all have the black gearbox. Even the gold ones. They also only come with a push in bushing. Mike

At that size it almost looks like there could be a way to inset them into the headstock which could be very cool. I'm in love with the weight loss program. Thanks for posting these Shane.

There are indeed a lot of options for installation once the imagination kicks in. I should mention that I price I quoted is the price I sell them for. I am not aware of anyone else carrying them yet (I am sure there are some). At present delivery would be 3 to 4 weeks after an order as they would come from Japan. I just brought in a couple of sets because I wanted to see what they looked like along side 510's.

I like it. Hides that ugly body, while creating a more natural look, especially if you put wood buttons on them. And it wouldn't be too much extra work if you already veneer the back of your headstocks.

$105 is rather pricey, but I suppose it's not that much more than gold 510's. I wish tuner manufacturers would sell them cheaper without buttons, for those planning to replace them anyway.

Yup, they are about the same price as gold with black button contour 510's. But there is more engineering I suppose to get an 18:1 gear in that TINY case. They are a premium tuner from what I can tell. Maybe once they get popular the price will come down, one can hope anyway.

Hi Brent,

I retail Gotoh, so that is just my price on these. So just let me know if you decide to get 'em!

Thanks

Shane

Hmmm... I'm not convinced. As Joe, I don't find them too appealing. Hiding the body within the headstock sure call for a lot of extra work and is bound to be a hassle if they ever need to be changed.

I guess I'll wait an see for a while...

But thanks Shane for letting us know about it! [:Y:]
