I got this off of the internet for cheap. Such a beautiful guitar and great sound. It still plays well too! There was obviously a "repair job" done to this, but the glue failed and the neck is coming off pretty clean, no extra wood from body attached~

I was wondering what you guys think of this? I would either try a neck reset myself or simply put screws on it. I've read alot about neck reset, and I know that only an experienced luthier should really be doing this. But based on the spaces you see, I think a drill through the neck is not even needed so it will be a simple take out > sand > reglue.

Though being the absolute noob that I am. I should really just do something that would simply fix the problem. So I thought about simply putting a screw at the dove tail joint from the inside of the body, similar to an actual bolt on acoustic neck.

Here are some pictures. Please give your input and ask me any more details. =)
Thanks in advance

I'm not an experienced repair guy (at all) but I've gotten into some 'big jobs' in the past that I thought would be easy repairs. [uncle] So, my 'two cents worth'-
If it is still playing fine, and doesn't feel 'loose', I'd just 'leave it be' and see if it is stable or gets worse. It may be fine for years.

I definitely would not consider putting a screw in there- it could be quite tricky to drill a decent clearance/pilot hole, anyway. If you end up removing the neck at some point, you could consider converting it to a bolt-on neck, using appropriate hardware.

You shouldn't count on a dovetail joint in there, BTW, unless you have some good reason to do so. Some guitars have 'dowelled-on' necks.

It can be quite tricky to work on a guitar and not mess up the finish a bit- that's where the difference between a pro and a hack like me really shows! (And touching up finishes, especially colored finishes, is tricky if you don't have a good selection of dyes and finishing materials).

Cheers
John

I see where you're standing on this. I think the screw thing is out of the picture. Also I kept playing this and notice the pickups might have a loose connection of some sort, and is distorting and sometimes even muting the higher notes a bit here and there.

But yeah the look is really growing on me... I'd really rather stare at it and play it the way it is until anything gets worse... But im more than sure the neck is moving as it always detunes after a few days without playing.
