A year ago I registered the domain name
http://www.hawleyguitars.com and set up a little web site with quickhost.com. Last week I received some messages saying that my first year was up but I was on automatic renewal and no action was required on my part. Apparently I was mistaken to interpret this to mean that I didn't have to do anything except not be surprised when I got a bill for the renewal. Yesterday I got a message saying my domain name had expired and now when I go to
http://www.hawleyguitars.com I see not my site but a list of links to things in Hawley, Pennsylvania. While this is undoubtedly a nice place, I'd prefer to have my site back.
Does anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Have I lost my domain name? The name was expired for about one day - are there people out there looking to grab names when they expire and, if so, why would anybody else want
http://www.hawleyguitars.com? Quickhost doesn't have live support on the week end and part of me is hoping that this is some kind of default thing they do until I renew the name. When I do a "whois" search, my name still comes up as the owner. Is this a reasonable hope or am I fooling myself?
Thanks,
Pat
