Are tightbond and Gorilla white/yellow glues the type of glues that Cumpiano is talking about in his book? I am about to joint and brace the top and back and I am worried about doing it with the wrong product.

You want titebond original if you are using yellow glue, not sure about gorrilla brand.

I think PVA's like Elmer's white glue and yellow AR's like original Titebond are the glues Cumpiano recommends in his book.

Gorilla wood glue is an excellent glue, with shorter open time and higher resistance to heat (and cold creep) than TB1.

For top bracing, the only glues I could really recommend as working right would be white glue, yellow glue, CA, hide glue, fish glue, epoxy, and polyurethane. I'm not really sure on any of the other ones, but I'm certain a proper application of any of the above will work just fine for you :)

For jointing a top, I'd personally cut fish, epoxy, and polyurethane from the list for cosmetic reasons but I'm sure there's somebody somewhere who gets invisible glue lines with those as well. White glues are the easiest to get an invisible line with in my experience.
