Mapquest has good directions. The Hegins exit is 112 rt 81. We are about 8 miles off the interstate. Head west as you get into Hegins , I am about 2 miles from the town square. Once you go past the cemetery look for the first paved road to the left. Ride it till it turns to dirt , then look for the big rock with 244 painted on it. You can see out shop and house to your left . Looking forward.

Make that the first paved road to the RIGHT.

Looks good so far Jim Warwick will do a french polish seminar and Todd can do the 3 demos. I will do an inlay demo. Bring projects that you may think need help or of interest

I am definately going.

I will bring a bunch of guitars and wood to trade etc.

If anyone wants to carpool from NY (Corky? Jody? Rich?) let me know.

Sounds like a lot of fun!

Hi John

My plans were to be there but one of my favorite Guitarist Andy McKee will be in Detroit that day. Andy and I go way back and he has test driven most of my builds so I hate to miss him.

Harrisburg International is probably the best bet.

As a newbie, would be really interested in attending.

Being a newbie, here are some demos or builds I'd like to see :

Sound ports, adjustible necks and how they work, how to put in a side bevel, routing and binding a headstock and fingerboard (like gibson SJ200's), tips on doing your first cutaway.

Dan Reese

[:Y:] Great stuff, I'll second that request. I'd appreciate demos on the contemporary side [:Y:]

Does anybody have any suggestions for nearby hotels/motels?

Wow, you're ambitious Kathy. You're not far from me in Calgary. I was thinking of flying down too, but am struggling with all that travelling for a one day thing. Would certainly be a learning experience though.

Philadelphia is probably easier/more flexible in terms of flights and times. I don't think it's any further either - my best route to John's house from northern Delaware is essentially the same as it would be from the airport - I-95 to the "blue route" and then north through
Plymouth Meeting.

Hi Darrell,

I didn't realize that you're in Calgary - nice to know about other Albertans out there. I travel for work, so if I can get my schedule to coincide with this weekend I can get myself to Toronto or Burlington and then rent a car and drive down.

Wow, I used mapquest to find out where Hegins is and to my surprise it's only about 12 miles from where I grew up. I'm no longer in the area and I don't know if I can make it there but it would be great to meet the all of the folks attending.

I'd also like to attend. I've only built one guitar, and dropped out of building in the last year, so this will be just what I need to get me back on the straight and narrow. Having limited experience, almost any demo would do me good. Hope to see you all there.

We will have a shop safety open discussion so that those of us may help others to not so what we did . If I can save one person from hitting a saw blade , then my experience will be worth it.
Also have your superglue stories ready

I would definitely like to come, so count me in :-)

I have very little building experience as of yet and this sounds like an awesome time and a great learning experience. Thanks John for your generosity in opening your shop to everyone and putting this together!

I'm trying to justify the cost of a plane ticket so thinking of other things I might do in the area. I would love to tour the Martin plant! I'm considering arriving early to take the Martin plant tour on Friday before the meeting at John Hall's shop on Sat.

Would anyone else be interested in touring the Martin plant on Friday? John said it is roughly 1 1/2 hours from his shop. And I think he said you would need to arrive around 11:30 for the tours that begin at 12:30. Of course, we would need to check with Martin to double check the times and make sure tours will be given that day.
