The newest Luthier Tips du Jour instructional video is on Youtube. The topic is acoustic guitar set up. Subtitles are available in both English and Portuguese and you can translate them into any other language by using the CC option on Youtube.
As always, comments and discussion are welcome.
Enjoy!

Thanks so much for this Robbie. It fills in a lot of gaps for me and takes a good chunk of the mystery out of the set up process.
Cheers
Rick

Thanks, Robbie. Your videos are very helpful and very well done. I always look forward to the next one.

For those of us who wish to obsess about these things. . .you mention using a thin business card to measure the distance between the string and fret. . .is this equal to one index card, or a specific feeler gauge thickness?

Chuck

Thank you Chuck and others for your compliments.
I use a thin business card stock. There is not a huge difference between the thin stock and the thicker stock and I doubt any player would be able to tell which one was used to set up his guitar. Feeler gauges are a viable alternative to the business card. However, I don't know what the measurement is. I will let you guys figure that out.
About your obsessive disorder... there are other areas of guitar building and life for that matter that are worth being obsessive over but I don't consider this one of them. laughing6-hehe
Happy Building!
