Well, I finally finished my #3 (1st OM)

Everything went really well up until the Setup and Spraying the Finish. I had to respray the neck about 3 times because I kept sanding through the black, but finally got it. Also the setup eventually went really well and it plays great and sounds really well.

It's my first OM. The previous 2 were Dreadnoughts, but I really like this OM sound and Body size/shape.

Figured Mahogany Back & Sides (From Previous Swap Meet)
Bearclaw spruce Top
Mahogany Neck
Ebony Bindings, Bridge, Bridge Pins, Fingerboard & Woolson style Bound Soundhole
25.4 Scale
Grover Mini locking tuners
KTM9 Waterbase Finish

Thanks for looking.

Hi there Blain
Nice one, beautiful woods.
I like OM's too.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Thanks for all the kind replies.

I'm still not "there" yet, but getting closer. I have to say that I learned more on this guitar than on the previous two and things really started making a lot more sense this time around. Fit & Finish are still not 100%, but definitely getting better. This was my first Spray job so that was a challenge as well.

For the neck I had slightly off color wings on the headstock so I decided to spray the back of the headstock & neck black and just fade it into the regular wood color to blend it in.

#4 is already on its way. Actually hoping to close up the box on it this coming week. It will be an OM again. #4 will be for my girlfriend and per her request, it will be a green guitar. Not really looking forward to that part of it.

This is the only other close(er) shot that I have at the time so I'll post it.

Nice Blain! Looks great. Bound sound holes are cool. Funny, I just strung up my 3rd guitar today. Guess what it is. An OM also and I like it. I like it a lot.

Cheers,
Danny

Very nice [:Y:]
Nice contrast with the dark appointments...

My last three have been OM's, I really like the size and sound.
