Swap-a-Palooza Spring 2010

APRIL 1rst thru APRIL 12th.

Ok folks, its time for another OLF SWAP MEET!
You have all been asking for a while now! SO here we go!

If you are new to a swap meet event we start a new discussion area of the OLF dedicated to swap meet business only (no guitar building discussions in this area). Anyone can come in, look, and buy, but if you want to sell you need to register ahead of time and there is a nominal fee. If you are a seller you will get the opportunity to open a single thread within this discussion, post your pictures, prices, etc.

We ask (actually we insist, but we want to appear nice about it) that all swap meet business happens in the threads and not in PMs or emails. We don't want links out to your web sites, or shopping carts of stuff you have for sale, and we want all buyers to announce their interests in the threads, not privately. We have done a few of these and we have found when everything is out in the open it makes for a more fun and successful swap meet.

As usual there will be a small cost involved in selling your stuff at the swap meet. Here is the breakdown of prices. Please pay pal us your entry fee at lance@luthiersforum.com and we will send you a password to get in to the swapmeet forum and allow you to set up your "table" in advance of opening.
Here are the fees

Individual Seller who is an OLF Classifieds Subscriber $5
Individual Seller who is NOT an OLF Classifies subscriber $20
Commercial Seller who is NOT an OLF Advertiser $250
Commercial Seller who is an OLF Advertiser (sponsor level) $50
Commercial Seller who IS an OLF Advertiser (Promoter & higher) $FREE

These are always fun and are a great community event. Feel free to invite other guitar making friends to check it out.

Hey Lance,
Is there a list of selling or shipping guidelines for this that I can look at?
I haven't participated in one of these yet but am assuming things need to have a fixed price.
Also is the shipping cost to be included in the price or determined after the item is sold?

Best!

It would be nice if the posters who have issues shipping to Canada or other international buyers list this in the ad, a simple addition of the words ship to USA only would prevent us from wasting our and your time bidding. If shipping to Canada use US postal service as the courier companies charge a large customs broker fee but the postal has a flat fee that is much more reasonable.

Usually most people quote domestic shipping separate as a flat rate and adjust it for international shipping.

Just to clarify, unless you are selling you can't get in until it opens. That way everybody gets a fair shot at what is for sale.

Lance,

If we wish to be a ' Seller who is NOT an OLF Classifies subscriber' and pay the $20, will we then also get a year of OLF Classifieds subscriber benefits?

thanks.

That's what I was thinking, shouldn't it be $16.88 or less for non-classified subscribers?

Guess we could have thought this out a little better.
Truth is we just copied and pasted the instructions from last time as it seemed to work so well.

To answer your question, no - to subscribe to classifieds you -have- to go through the system.
It is all automated.

Can one buy things at the swap meet without being a subscriber to the classified section?

bliss Okay, I got into the classified area this morning. Either the link is fixed, or my browser was bringing up a cached reply.

Thanks.

I joined the Classifieds in November of last year. I did Paypal for $5 for the Swapa whatsis to Lance on the 15th of this month and couldn't get in to list something to sell. Paypal says the $5 was unclaimed so I cancelled it.
What to do?

what address did you send it too?
If you sent it to the correct address it would not have gone "unclaimed"

I redid the Paypal payment and to the correct email address. The first time I did it, Paypal gave me two choices fo Lance and I chose the wrong one - probably an old email address that he doesn't monitor.

Now, I have the password and it's...... laughing6-hehe

OK folks,
1 day to go!
There are TONS of goodies posted !

Once again please do ALL dealing WITH IN THE THREAD< NO back channel or Private Message dealings. I have had reports already that there has been some offered or "pre claims" made to some of the posted goodies.

The way this works is once we open the door its a free for all! Claim what you want as fast as you can or risk loosing it.

So, tomorrow morning at 9:30 AM EST (my coffee break at work) I will log in and remove the swapmeet password and make an announcement that the swapmeet is open!

Enjoy! Have Fun! And play fair!
