Hello everyone,

I've been thinking about bracing a lot lately, pondering in my spare time. I like to try and figure out how the braces distribute pressure and vibrations across the soundboard. Anyways, my Google-Fu seems to be pretty lousy as of late, and every time I try and find some diagrams of bracing all that pops up are pictures of X-bracing, which I'm pretty familiar with. Anyone around here happen to have some pictures of alternate bracing patterns lying around, or a link to point me in the right direction? A-bracing to be specific, I've never actually seen under the hood of an A-brace. The inner nerd in me is willing to pay up for a good set of plans, if needs be.

My Dad had Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin posters on his wall, I have guitar plans  , to each his own.
The best to you
Dan

Here's one from a few years ago, fingers and all. I wasn't finished at the time, but you get a general idea. It's x-braced with an A brace above. That's one form of A brace anyhow.

Great web site if you have not found this one yet. Good plans for an A braced guitar.

I've got one of the workstation laptops at home from work tonight....if I get it done, I'll post some braced guitar top FEA work later. FEA is the computer simulation software that engineers use to predict stresses, deflections, modal response (i.e vibration characteristics) ... in a number of engineered products, in just about every other industry. I don't think it has been used much in the guitar world...but now that the software is more attainable I think it is only a matter of time before the big shops "discover" these tools (for a mere $10k in software you can do this type of work - what a deal!)
