Just finishing up a OOO mahogany BS and carvings/rosewood bindings/armrest accents/spruce top. I'll be stringing the OOO today. The OM Curly Mango BS/Cedar top/curly maple bindings (did decorative carving photos on both of these on the OLF tutorial)....and have had a blast playing my first OM steel string and SUPER happy with the sound and action.

I like the lacquer finish on the#2 Mango...but the finish was a bit thick on the #1 OOO and didn't do the carving and favors. I will do some experimenting on different finishes for bester results on decorative carving. Thinner is better.

Very cool. It takes guts to carve on a neck like that!

Nice work Kent!! I particularly love the mango OM with the mango rosette - I'm going to build a similar instrument soon.

Cheers,
Dave F.

Beautiful guitars! Do you think I could bother you with a close up pic of that arm rest. I'm loving the look of it.

I would be tempted to use an oil finish on the carved pieces. Tru-oil would probably be my choice.
