I used 1/4 on mine and it has held up well for 4 years, I figured if that was heavy enough for a D35 though after 20 or 30 years all D35's have a slight hump behind the bridge, but they sound good, to me the ones with the most hump sound best.

1/4" here. The majority of a braces strength comes from it's height, not width. I won't go under 1/4" width because of gluing surface. As always YMMV.

since were on the subject does anyone have anything to say about the
herringbone plan drawn by don mac rostie ?

if anyones intrested ....
i found these mechanical pencils that worked great for drawing plans
they dont break . you can even butt up a ruler hard against them
i traced a whole plan without it breaking once
the brand is ..

This is the plan I'm using right now and it calls for 5/16 but I got a little aggressive with the plane so they are about .29 on the ends and .3 in the middle.

From what I've read about the herringbone plan it is one of the best.
