Just finished number 10 this morning. Here are the specs:

Style: Dreadnought
Top Wood: Adirondack Spruce
Back/Sides: East Indian Rosewood
Bindings: Holly
Purfling: Pau Abalone Zipflex
Rosette: Eccentric Pau Abalone Rings in Macassar Ebony (sound hole bound in ebony)
Logo: Mother of Pearl from Andy DePaule
Finish: French Polished Shellac

Here are some pics:

The most unique thing about the guitar is the rosette. Its the "boldest" one I've done to date and, to be honest, for quite a while I didn't know if I was going to love it or hate it. Happily, in the end I was pleased with the way it turned out.

Thanks for looking,
Pat

Nice work Pat! I'll have to agree that the rossette is different!

I love it from up close. From far away on a stage or something it might look like a huge soundhole. But, I love it becuase it is different and because it looks very well made. Nice work.

It looks real nice Pat, I really like your cut away shape, it suits the dread shape better than most of the cutaway shapes I have seen on them.

Beautiful job, Pat! I like your rosette treatment. Although, it might look a bit strange from far away. Good to have a surprise for people when they get up close.

Keep it up,
Max

She looks great Pat and I for one do like the rosette too!

So is this the guitar that will replace the racket ball racket in your avatar pic? :)

Nice job!

Love it! #10. You've been a busy guy. The holly looks Pretty cool. That's some white wood.

Cheers,
Danny

I'm with Fred on this one. About the nicest cutaway dred shape I've seen.
Almost make me want to build a dred. [:Y:]
Lovely guitar. Bet she's a real boomer!

Thanks for all the comments guys. There is one thing however, that I must clarify: that's a tennis racket I"m holding in my avatar, not a racket ball racket.

I'm very happy with the way it sounds. I'll try and get some clips up soon.

Pat

Different looking guitar, I like it. You did a nice job on setting all that abalone. Is that zip flex or did you hand fit that?

Thanks Bob. I should acknowledge that the beautiful forest grown rosewood came from RC Tonewoods. Nicest EI rosewood I've had so far.l Tim, the abalone purfling is zipflex. In the rosette, it's abalone pieces from Andy DePaule.

Really nice work!

I like experimenting with different approaches, too.

Tell me about your experience with binding in holly. I really like the effect. Any specific issues to take into account?

Regards,

Thanks Corky. The holly was nice to work with - it bent very easliy. It's not as hard as maple, for example, I can dent it with my thumb nail if I press hard. The other thing is I started with a 2" X 3" X 36" board and used almost all of it to get about eight pieces of binding that was acceptably clear of knots - but I guess that had more to do with my initial selection of the board. What I'm saying is I didn't save any money cutting my own bindings and if I found a source for pre-cut holly bindings I go with that if I were to do it again (which I probably will).
