The 22" of snow received here over the past weekend really slowed things down, which I think is a good thing.

I've got to agree with the snow slowing things down. We only got 17" here, but it stopped us from making the annual pilgrimage to the in-laws house in Clarksburg. It was great to spend a nice relaxed Christmas at home with just the wife for a change. That was by far the best gift.

Happy New Year to all. I got a precision router base and circle/rossette cutter form tonetech in UK for my Xmas. Used the circle cutter supplied with the dremel kit (adapted to give fine ajustment) for the first 3 guitars. Really looking forward to recovering from my hip replacement (just call me hop-along) to get back into my shop and use it - looks really top quality.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

We gave each other new bicycles. My trusty old steed was nicked from our backyard a couple of months ago, and to my surprise my wife said she wanted to get one too.
Portland is about as bike friendly a town as there is, so it's a truly viable mode of transport.
Shop wise nothing new. I plan to get a mini split heat and AC system in the next few months.
