Hello all,
Just doing some digging here and reading up on all the waterbased stuff that you all use....KTM-9 & SV, and Target Coatings seem to be the top perfromers here and some work well for the folks here. I was looking around at other froums and it struck me that the Minwax Polycrylic is not mentioned here. I wonder.....has anyone used this product as a final finish?......on a guitar or other wood projects. If you have what did you like and did not like? I have seen where people have acutally used this product as a grain filler with positive results. Just fishing to see what you guys think of this product.

This has likely been formulated for the average homeowner with ease of application and fast drying time in mind. Whether or not it will build to a hard clear gloss finish, burn-in between coats, and not leave a bluish cast will have to be someone's experiment. It may be the perfect guitar finish waiting to be discovered.....

when in doubt ,and this is just good practice for you , take a piece of spruce and actually do a finish with it . You not only get to see it first hand but you actually get to do the work with the product and see what pitfalls and benefits that go with it.

My first home made guitar project, long before I found this forum and all its usefull info, was a little travel guitar built mostly from odds and ends in my workshop. Thought I'd take it backpacking but never did. I brushed on some polycrylic that I had... not a bad looking satin finish, that went well with the rustic look of my guitar. I didn't try anything like polishing.
Anyway, the big problem I found was that in high humidity and/or after playing a while the neck always felt gummy, even after a year or so.
