Sorry, I didn't have the best of lighting, but I deliver the OM to its new owner tomorrow, and I had to shoot with what I had. Top is red spruce, bindings are curly koa, string purflings are boxwood, and the backstrip is tulipwood banded by boxwood. Finish is two coats of Target's water based amber shellac with Em6000 topcoats. She is a very light, nice sounding guitar and my first sale!

Thanks for looking.

Ken

Thanks everyone for the kind words! Wish the pictures were better as the guitar really is a stunner in person. I delivered it to the buyer this afternoon. He was elated! He loved how the koa, boxwood, and mad rose looked together. He thought the finish was stunning. But most importantly, he was really taken aback at how well it sounded, especially having been strung up just for three days. He said it had a much more balanced sound at this stage than he ever thought it would. He was expecting it to be a bit brighter with the bass not blossoming much yet.

The guy owns more than a half dozen Martins, a Baranik, a Collings, and several others, so though I felt the guitar was finely crafted, I was a bit worried it may fail to meet his expectations. In fact, he said it exceeded in every respect except for the action. I had it a touch higher than he likes. He is going to play it a bunch this weekend, and I may need to do a bit more work later on the action. But he's a happy customer bliss

Ken

What a beauty....Someones mighty lucky. The woods are all very complimentary. Love it!

I'd have to keep that one for myself....of course, that means I'd end up with a house full.

Nice .

Ken, it was recorded on one of the Sony hand held devices with the built in dual mics. Similar to a Zoom H4.

Just a lovely guitar, Ken!
I'm really drawn to those thin abalone lines on your rosette.
Very handsome!
Where did you find those?

Steve

Waddy, I've got a small Sony unit coming for Christmas. Sounds like it may be the same one.

Steve, Thanks! The abalone is the narrow Zipflex. My customer wanted a small rosette with koa and abalone. The Zipflex was among the narrowest I could find. To keep the overall rosette small, I added no additional purflings, but the Zipflex has a very, very thin black matrix banding the shell. I simply used that. It worked pretty well. But more importantly, the customer really liked it!

Ken
