After buffing out the guitar I have 1 small crack in the Rosette that needs to be pore filled.The plan is to sand the spot a little then drop fill with CA,since drop filling with em 6000 takes as many coats as it`s name.Then with a small artist brush put on several coats and then re sand and buff.I`d like to also re-sand the entire guitar all the way thru the micro mesh grits to get as scratch free as possible.I sanded up to P2000.But still scratches.Does this sound do-able?

Sometimes scratches remain not because the grit wasn't fine enough but because the scratches weren't fully removed with each succeeding grit.

Ken your probably right,that is very difficult to see and know when all the scratches from a previous grit are gone.I`ve never been able to quite get a handle on it.I do think I can re sand and get it better,even though it`s been buffed out.It`s like maybe 90% where it should be.You can only see minor scratches when held just right under a light.

Hey James, I just did some drop filling with EM6000 and it seemed to fill in pretty well. I put a good sized drop on each little cavity and it filled in pretty quickly.

I have the same issues with making sure I get all the scratches out...one day I'll figure it out!

If you are buffing with an arbor and cotton wheel style buffer and Menzerna Compounds, the medium then light will remove most left over scratches from sanding.

I hand polished my 1st 3 guitars with automotive compounds and was never totally happy with the results. I put together a arbor setup and the Menzerna compound did such a great job on # 4 and 5 I went back over the others and was very happy with the improvements. I am now totally sold on machine buffing as long as one is careful it does a lot better job
