Thanks Tony, yup Rio as in BRW, I have quite a light set, light brown/red and had a look on various builders sites to get a feeling for something different that looked very classy. I like the idea of ebony as seen on your site and that of Gerald Sheppard. Just wondered what various folk had tried and seen to give a nice combination.

I like to use ebony on BRW. Here's one with ebony bindings and a Macassar bevel.

That looks very nice indeed... did you use individual pieces of Paua, or is that zipflex...?

Another beauty - I have some snakewood bindings which I was keeping for some time but this might be another option...decisions decisions! this is fun though.. any other ideas worth looking at?

I like Peruvian walnut with the lighter BRW, it's just the right shade of brown and is understated and very classy. To my eye the snakewood and koa are distracting from the beauty of the BRW with their "busyness". YMMV Mikey
