Paul, we will have to agree to disagree.

Of course we are measuring the water vapor when we measure humidity, but the ions are not being carried along with it upon evaporation. The ions would have to be volatile, which they are not. We are not talking about an azeotrope here. Distilled water is different than deionized water based on process. Properly distilled water can be free of ions, although historically copper stills were used that introduced copper ions back into the water. Deionized water uses an ion exchange resin and may leave uncharged impurities in the water. Now there may be charged particulate matter in the air (pollution) that could be deposited, but that would happen anyway and has nothing to do with the salt solution sitting in the dish.
