This is an idea for a pick guard.It`s a piece of Austrailian Silver Oak.We were going to use a clear guard,but the bloodwood around the Rosette bled onto the Adi when we Shellaced the top.We tried to sand it off,but no go.It sanded thru the Rosette in a small spot.The customer requested a clear guard,but that`s out ,unless we completely re-do the Rosette.Obviously at this point that would be very difficult.Well that`s the situation. I`m thinking just tell the customer what happened and send him a pic with the guard on it and see what he thinks.Any suggestions would be appreciated.I know for sure this customer won`t settle for a plastic guard.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but if it's for a customer, fix it right. Even if it means a new top.

On to the pick gaurd. What you've got there looks cool and it works well with the shape of your bridge (saw it in the other thread, thumbs up on that). I took a piece of Cocobolo down to .010", added LMI clear pickgaurd material on top and transfer adhesive sheet on the back. Worked real nice. Looked awful on the guitar so I just used a clear one instead.

I hear what your saying Stephen and appreciate the input.But being the stubborn Irishman that I am ,I showed the client the pick guard.I thought what the heck he can only say yeah or neay.He loved it.Well I guess that`s the luck of the Irish.

Nice looking pickguard, and I'm glad your client liked it..............My only concern is, how thin is the top where you sanded through the Rosette? No ones ever told me (and I haven't bothered to read) how deep a rosette should be. I make mine ~1/3 of the top thickness.
