Wood and guitars were impounded, but charges so far have not been placed. Gibson says it sits on the Rainforest Alliance Council, and claims to have done nothing wrong. I wonder if Taylor and the other big makers are sweating a bit at this point. Some lucky law firm guaranteed to have several years of business defending this one.
Hopefully the Fish and Wildlife service will keep it stickered......... idunno

I have not seen any paperwork either. I don't know anything about it actually. I did get this in an email one day. Is this what a legal passport would look like? This guy might not be shipping from inside the U. S. either. Has anyone seen this before? Know anything about it? Should I not post this here?

Nope - that is not what the official paperwork looks like. It looks more like an income tax form - I helped out an Argentine friend of mine bring some BRW into the US as part of an inheritance a few years ago, stuff cut in the 40s and 50s and air drying since. Might get some more this year.

Well.... Is it worth it to go thru the trouble of getting BRW? Is the guitar sound so much better that we must have it? What if it was obtained legally? the price is ten times more than comparable IRW, could IRW compared to BRW?
I have many more questions about BRW idunno but I will stop here! I also found this place near me where I could go and see the sets before buying: http://www.hanoverbrazil.com/rosewood-guitars.shtml
What should I look for or be aware of when choosing a set of BRW?

Thanks in advance.

Filippo,
Believe me, I know all about the cost and future considerations involved when using an expensive set
of wood....and all of the time and effort necessary to locate and procure it for a customer. I've been doing
this for a long time and have built a lot of guitars.

My problem is when I see a maker charging ten times or more of the high end of a particular wood's
price range. There's one large house that is charging as much as $25k for a premium set of Brazilian
Rosewood. There's no amount of possible warranty work that can justify that kind of charge and I know
that the time invested in getting the wood doesn't either.

Thanks though,
Kevin Gallagher/Omega Guitars

This is how rumors get started.
