Can anyone tell me if it is possible to change a waist bend after the bend has been set? I thought I had it cranked all the way down, but now I can see through the slot in the bender that there is still a small gap. gaah Can I re-wet the waist and heat it back up in the bender and crank it the rest of the way down? Has anyone ever done this?

Shouldn't be a problem. I don't think you could reverse the bend but you should be okay putting more bend in it

Yep, should be easy enough. I've bent a pair of sides both the same (doh!) before, and then flattenend one out and rebent it the correct way completely without any issues.

Good luck,
Dave F.

I just found this out today... I had a side that I started to bend on a hot pipe and decided not to use that set. So I flattened it back out for storage. Hopefully it will let me re-bend once the time comes to use it!

Wendy,

I once bent a profiled side backwards. I was encouraged to flatten it with an iron and rebend.

It came out fine.

I often touch up waist bends by hand on the hot pipe, I just put a wet rag between the side and the iron it creates a lot of stream and it bends quick, for some reason the tight bends in a 000 waist sometimes open a little.

Putting the whole side back in the bender might scorch the wood, be careful.

Fred

I took it out of the bender after work today and the waist is usable the way it is, so I won't be rebending it. There is a bit of springback, more than I am used to, but it conforms to the mold so I'm leaving it alone. At least I know now for the future that sides can be rebent. Thanks, Wendy
