Thanks, guys!

Chris, that is one of my own shapes, actually one of the first ones I drew, many years ago, but never built with it until now. I redrew it recently (making a few small adjustments), made my molds, and away I go. Thanks for the positive feedback on it.

To answer your other question... I took the blank of eucalyptus burl, drew the lines on there, cut the blank into pieces following the lines (on the table saw, using a small Diablo blade and my handy dandy super simple ripping sled), glued all the pieces back together with the maple purfs in between, and then proceeded as I usually do to make a simple solid wood rosette. Voila.

BTW, since some of you were asking about B&S on these guitars, here's a photo of the palo escrito back for the guitar-bouzouki.

Todd, those are great.
Forget what Peter said, and Ron as well. In time, they will see just how lovely those rosettes BOTH are! :D

Thanks, thanks, thanks, and thanks!

Mike, Steve Klein's shapes were among the first I ever saw that really inspired me. That's not to say that I had his guitars specifically in mind when I drew (and recently revised) this shape, but his influence is certainly there.

I will see you in Woodstock. Finally got my lodging arrangements settled last night (in the home of a friend-of-a-friend). Looking forward to it. My mando-uke prototype is the only instrument I have available to bring along right now, but I'll bring it. I assume it won't be appropriate to bring it into the exhibit hall, but I hope to have a chance to show it to you at some point.

Don't be deceived by the name... my mando-uke actually is a guitar... originally, I was calling it an alto guitar... I think you'll see what I mean.

Hey Todd,

Maybe a good name for it would be a "Manduke". :D

Nice rosettes, Todd. I especially like the random design of the different tiger myrtle pieces. That palo escrito is a nice set, too. I bet it has a great ring.

Thanks, Ken. And yes, both the palo escrito and the ziricote ring like there's no tomorrow.
