We are cutting off orders for all three OLF Body templates the last day of September.
The order will be placed with our CNC guy October 1.

Here are a pair of vids I made this evening using the prototype for the OLF-SJ, the only thing
missing in this proto type are the drill bushings in the centering tabs at the top and bottom.

If you are interested you can order them at this thread
http://luthiersforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10101&t=23303
Thanks!

Great stuff Lance! [:Y:]
How about a little narration next time? Or dance a little jig at the end like John Mayes. :D

Mike,

Good day! Can you give an estimated ship date? I am ready to start on a new guitar but would like to wait until the temples arrive. Nice video. The temples look great.

HI Eddie
Thanks! We are excited about them as well!
I would estimate it would take two weeks from placing the order to getting them back, but this is just an estimate.
Once we get the order in, ill ask our CNC guy the same question, "when could we expect them.

Ill keep you all updated as I find out.

I have a suggestion for a jig the OLF could sell.

Has anyone looked at the Precision Circle Jig from Lee Valley? It is a circle cutting jig, made from 1/4" clear acrylic, with mounting holes cut to fit 25 different model routers. It has 105 different 1/4" pivot holes spaced so it's capable of cutting circles from 1" to 7 1/2" in 1/16" increments. A 1/4" pin is placed in the center of the circle then a pivot hole is selected and placed over the 1/4" pin and a perfectly sized circle is routed.

Why not use the same concept and design an OLF jig with mounting holes that fit the common trim routers? Position the pivot holes for circle diameters commonly used in luthrie work. For instance if the smallest guitar soundhole is say 3 1/2" and the outside of a large rosette is say 8" diameter, then space the pivot holes throughout that range. For the small range commonly used for rosettes you might go up in 1/32" increments instead of 1/16" increments.

The Lee Valley version sells for $26.50. Essentially the jig is acrylic with a bunch of holes drilled in it. Should be able to make it on a CNC machine easily. I'll buy one.

Hi Lance,
What is the latest word on the guitar templates? Has your CNC guy given you any indication as to when the templates will be done and when you can expect to ship? Thanks, Richard

No news yet. Ill post it in a new thread as soon as we know.
Once the templates are back there is still a lot of stuff to do with regards to boxing and shipping.
Its not unlike the string orders we've done in the past.
I can promise you this, as soon as we have them in hand, well move as fast as possible to get every one shipped!

Thanks guys!
Lance

Lance,

It sounds like you are 3 to 4 weeks from a ship date. Is that how it looks from your end?

Thanks,

That is very true. However, I am ready to start my first build. A projected schedule would help me to determine if I should wait or continue without.

Eddie, I regretted posting it the moment I hit "submit". "Chill" is a harsh word and I do not normally use it. What I was getting at is that Lance & Brock are not operating some kind of factory with Just In Time inventory, etc. They make these items available but are at the mercy of many other folk's schedules. And, we have no idea how many of us ordered these things which means the mailing issue could easily be a serious b@tch. I know, I have done this before.

So, my real point was, relax, go work on project number 2 or 3, whatever that means, and soon enough the stuff will get here. They have not forgot us nor are they sailing in the Caribbean with the proceeds. ;)

Update

We should have the templates back by the end of next week.
I will start boxing and shipping starting the 16th providing we stay
on course and get them by the 13th.

Thanks everyone!

I bet L&B will offer them for sale again. I know I am getting cranked about them showing up.
