Whose got the tips!

I am looking for a good way to get consistently great results on fretted fretboards (after all my fretwork is done). Currently, I use a dedicated firm cotton buff with red compound, which works except for the fact that it pulls all sorts of carbon from the frets and deposits it into the fretboard, which then requires my handrubbing with lemon oil to remove. I want to do it all in one fell swoop.

I was thinking fine scoth brite wheels...

Any other thoughts or lessons born from experience?

THANKS!
Stephen

I tape off the fretboard. It's a pain at first but it only takes a few minutes after you've done a few.

Yup, gotta tape off--tedious, but necessary, and you do get good at it...

What if your trying to buff the fingerboard too? I want to do the same thing, but I want the fingerboard buffed like Dave Stewart does his archtops. That is classy!

I do the fingerboard first Joe...then fret, mask, & go from there. (After fretwork, I buff the frets alone... dremel....unmask & string)
