Hey Jeff, are you drilling holes in your back braces?
Got another pic from a different angle that would show what's going on there?

Steve

Stunning! Thanks Jeff, looking at those raises my appetite. Guess I better go grab a bite to eat. :D I really enjoy looking at the Monkey Pod guitars you've produced and thought you'd found a darker batch. I'll bet these ring like gongs.

Here is a classical top on my personal bench. Braces were shaped with a Stephen Boone mini wooden hand plane.

I have two on the go, this is the Classical, Englemann & Ovankol, using the 6-fan Ramirez bracing pattern:

Here is a shot of the Ovankol back - I like how the black streaks offset the ebony binding:

And here is my SS, Lutz (thanks Shane, beautiful wood) and EIR - inspired by Shane's Greven I had the pleasure of seeing when I was in Terrace:

Posted this guy a couple weeks ago. Finished the tweaks and final polish, sent him off with his new owner today.

I was browsing in a hardware store, and saw these huge quick connects for pneumatic tools, like air hammers, and thought it might work as a swivel mount for my solera. Don't know if it will work, ultimately, but thought it was worth a try. Here are some pics of what I have so far.

Male and female parts.

It is fairly stable, but not as firm as I would like, and it turns a little easily. I replaced the soft washer in it with some hard rubber washers, and it is more stable, but I think I'm going to drill some registration holes in it an put a pin in there to keep it from turning. That may also add a small amount of stability. Then I can turn it with the pin out and reinsert for locking. Only time will tell if it will be acceptable.

Thanks, guys. Don't even know if it will actually work. I'm pretty sure it will for some things, but if you have to put much pressure anywhere, it may be too unstable. We'll see, I guess. It does rock a little. Maybe it won't if I put a pin in it. I just need to put it in the right place.
