Another Romanillos design Classical. It's what I like, right now.

Back and Sides - Bubinga from Don Williams
Top - Lutz Spruce from Shane
Bindings - Bloodwood
Bridge - Madagascar Rosewood
Fingerboard and Heel Cap - Ebony
Tuning Machines - Rubner

It's loud and clear. It may not sound quite as "woody" as #2, but it's equally as loud, with both bass and treble ranges clean. Nice overtones, and long sustain. The action is in the 2.7 - treble/3.5 bass range, and holds up pretty well tuned down to D, at present. As it settles I expect the action to rise a tiny bit. The others have. Both the Bubinga and Lutz seem to be fine for a classical guitar. I was wondering how it would turn out. No label in it yet.

Waddy,
I especially like your rosette and the treatment of the fingerboard end. The wood is very nice on this one, too. Look at the silking on the top of that baby!

Lovely - the top is amazing and I like the bubinga. How did the bending go of the sides?

Thanks guys. I'm liking it, so far.

Sen, I think it's getting a little better. Practice makes perfect, but I still see lots of places. I need to improve my pore filling. It still isn't fully filled. The egg white/sandpaper pore fill, didn't work as well as I thought it did. I know it's my procedure. I probably need to work the slurry into the pores with a card after sanding it up.
No sound clips yet, but soon, I hope.

Paul, I plan to bring this one as well as my first and second. I look forward to getting some builder feed back.

Steve, I had a couple of little crack out's in the bending, but they were small, and easily repaired with CA, and totally invisible. I still have some "finishing up" issues before putting on the finish. It could have used a little more going over. It's hard when you are near the end, not to go ahead and finish. gaah [headinwall]

Thanks again, for your comments.

Waddy, I love this one. I like the continuous purfling around the heel cap and I love the rosette. I'm sure it's a good feeling AND you got that kind of a sound on #3!!

Another nice one Waddy. I like the bubinga, I'm getting ready to bend some for one of my next two.

Absolutely beautiful Waddy. And I love the way you designed the headstock and bridge. [:Y:]

Nice Waddy, beautiful guitar. I've always like the distinctive style of your headstock design. Scarf this time instead of V?

Well done Waddy, you're gtting good at this aren't you!

You'll find the lutz opens up pretty well in short time. The players I've been working with recently look for a final 1st string of 3mm and a 6th at 3.8mm so you should be right on the money at full tension when it's settled in. What do you think of the Rubners? I'm using them a lot and like them.

Colin

You are all very generous. Thank you.

Colin, I really like the Rubners. They are not quite as smooth as the Gilberts I put on #2, but they look more traditional. I was going to put a pair of Sloans on this one, but I drilled too close to the bottom of the slot for them. I thought I had enough room, but I think I must have cut up into the headstock too far on the little curved introduction into the neck. Oh well. Live and learn. Glad the Rubners fit. I only have one set left. Time to get some more.

Looks good, Waddy. I'm using Bubinga now for a raised fingerboard guitar that I'm building following a course that Mick Lazar is doing elsewhere. I can't wait to hear how it sounds (but it will be a while - way too busy these days).

As I said elsewhere, I think your rosette has become a well thought out and distinctive touch.

I do hope to finish a Romanillos-inspired guitar this fall, as it's future owner is waiting for it. I don't get to keep one myself until number 2.

Kirby

Waddy, that is very nice indeed. I really like the detail in your rosette!

Got a closer look at the back purfling and center line? Did you miter them?

Edit, just took a look at one of the close up pics of the back, you did miter them. Nice job. I really like the look of purfling lines that miter into eachother on the back. Very classy! [:Y:]

Very nice Waddy.
I was wondering if the mirrored "R" in your rosette had some significance or if it was just a cool pattern you stumbled upon.

Looks great, Waddy!

I "know" this guitar from another forum, and one thing I have noticed and I salute you for is you never hesitate to do whatever needs to be done to fix the occasional set-back (like having to redo the bindings gaah ). That's the right attitude, that's how you learn things, and its the reason you are showing such great progress.

Good job!

Waddy,

Very nice indeed. Shane's lutz is the business and you've done it proud.
