Steve, you know what I really think about your guitars, both you and your brother are among my very favourite builders. But you do provide me with the ammunition!

That gothic ended stopped backstrip is becoming something of a trademark with you isn't it, I have to say I do like it, I may have to steal that idea one day.

Colin, you are most welcome my friend to use it.

SO LONG as you put it on a sunburst, Sitka-topped, abalone encrusted 12 string resonator.

(I'd just like to see that, ya know?)

Interesting indeed, and very nice to look at! Great looking guitar, Steve. I am just beginning a J-185 that will have a similar f/b inlay.

Thanks ken! You can probably tell that we modified the design a bit.
Certain elements of the "original" weren't as flulid and graceful as other parts. They got jettisoned and the design simplified a bit.

Be sure and post pics when done!

Yep, beautiful, Steve.
I had to chuckle a little about the top, though, as I think it looks a bit like me these days, a bunch of battle scars, weather and age, and the sassafrass, that`s the rear view. laughing6-hehe
Keep up your extraordinary work.
Cheers
Coe Franklin

Ken, will do!
Mike, thanks mate. Yes, so far it's a keeper. It is for sale, but if it never sells, I'm ok with that. I love having it around the place.
James, Coe, thanks guys!

Hey thanks, Arnt, it's as much fun to work as it is to pronounce.
You should try some.
Much appreciated, Mat. Say, what part of the UK are you from?
Dave, are you angling for another raise?
Another one??
You got it!

(And thanks, too.)

I'm from Hampshire.
I live in a smallish village near Basingstoke.

When stained with dark figure like that it is actually known as 'Black Heart' Sassafas. I was talking with Chris Brady of Brady Drums whilst picking out some wood a few years back and Sassafras came up in the conversation, Chris is a very funny guy and he stopped mid sentence, look at me squarely and said "Black Heart Sassafras, I always thought that would make a great name for an aussie rock band" I had a chuckle at the time but must agree that it's a pretty catchy name. As a tonewood one huge bonus is that there is no grains to fill [:Y:]

Cheers

Terence, thanks for the kudos. If ever you plan on profiling Black Heart Sassafras on your site, use that pic.

Mat, I bet it's a lovely place. I've never seen a place in the UK where I wouldn't enjoy living.

Kent, thanks!

Kim, true enough about the pores. Another bonus is that quite a few types of binding choices/colors will work with this species.

Wow! Yet another top drawer effort, Steve!

That bearclaw is truly amazing. I have bought a few very nice sets from Brent. He's a stand-up guy!
