Just got back my old GOYA (My first classical guitar purchased USED from my instructor in 1966) and loaned to # 2 son. It has some sentimental value. It still actually plays even with a bulging and badly cracked top and worn out frets/fretboard. Another unique spec. on this guitar is it is a 630 length.
I previously asked the forum about removing the top,.... Thanks to the replies....I will be routing off the top. BUT FIRST....The Big question is removing the fretboard. It looks like it may be possible to rework the original fretboard and install new frets....So I am hoping to save it. Do I try using a cloths Iron to heat and break loose the fretboard? Is that possible?.....or am I destined to pulling the frets and cutting off (routing, planing, scraping.etc.) the original fretboard anyway possible and replacing with a new fretboard?

The neck and Mahogany sides are great and the back has a couple minor cracks that can be repaired.

If the fingerboard is going to be saved why does it have to be removed? Cant you just pulled the frets and give it a sanding?

I'll need to remove the fretboard to get the old top off and replaced with a new one.

Sorry didnt think of that... how obvious

I think the cloths iron will work fine heat a little pry a little. If you could get some steam into the joint that would help. By the way DO NOT use your wifes iron.
