Hi all,

I am rounding the corner on this OM build, starting to prep for finish. I sanded the top to 220 with a backing block and gently wiped it with a damp cloth to raise the grain. After that dried, i sanded it again and it looked utterly beautiful and silky smooth.

I sprayed a washcoat of lacquer over it, just a thin mist to seal it and I notice now that the entire surface has little grains standing up, as they say here in the South, "like they're fixin to meet the Lord". Looks like it needs a shave!

Is this normal? I assume now with the sealer coat, after i give it overnight to dry, that all the grain should now be brittle and should sand right off and no further should come up? Or am I going to be fighting this between every coat? Did I do something wrong, or am I just being paranoid?

Thanks!

Adam

Sand lightly and recoat, repeat if necessary, but it probably won't be.

Just because you can't hear the voices doesn't mean they're not there. :D
